Why is vision important?
In most of our lives, we walk through our day just to go through the motions and get it over with. There is no point, purpose, or drive behind it. No true reason for really being anywhere or doing anything. We grow numb to the things that once gave us life. Yet continue to do those things earnestly without question hoping to take hold of some sort of spark again. I wonder how our lives would look if we had a vision for them? Not just dreams and hope, but a true vision.
The word vision comes from the Latin word videre which means “to see”. Having eyesight isn’t the same as having vision. If you look up the definition of vision, on google because that’s how us millennials find everything, you will see it says, “the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom”. It takes so much more than being able to see something with your eyes. It takes time, thought, and wisdom. As Christians, I think we get caught up in the busyness of life and the chaos of this world. We forget or lose the vision that God has already spoken over our lives. Our purpose becomes stagnant, our drive is no longer pushing us, and people no longer become a focus within our hearts. It's time as a community of Christians to get back to the vision. To get back to what God has called us and asked us to do. It's time we make a stand for the right reasons, for Jesus. And It's time that we start loving people and serving the way that Jesus demonstrated 2,000 years ago.
John 10:10 says “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.” He has already fought the hardest battle for us. In every attempt of the enemy trying to steal our vision trying to steal our God dreams, God is right there making a way for us! He has already won the battle! That is the beauty of all of this. All we have to do trust in Him, get back to what he has asked of us and serve Him in everything we do wholeheartedly.
I am so excited for Vision Sunday this Sunday and I hope you are too. I can't wait to hear what Pastor's vision is for us as a church and what God has placed on his heart. Just as I feel it is so utterly important for us to cling to the vision God has for our lives, it is just as important to carry out the vision for the church because if you are living out God's vision and purpose for your life then you will also be living out the vision and purpose of the church, considering they both align with God's ultimate plan.
11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers,
12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-13
What would our lives look like if we were to EMBRACE VISION?
Please feel free to ask questions and comment here! I would love to hear your feedback and I pray that I will see you this Sunday at 9am or 11am!
